Şevval Konyalı “Coupon”

The exhibition includes photography and installation works by Şevval Konyalı. Konyalı, the audience in the exhibition, the uniqueness of the lost work of art, which has become reproducible in the era of modern technology; invites you to think through the original works in the exhibition.

Curated by the artist himself, the exhibition celebrates the ownership and unique existence of everyday objects and their environment. The works in the exhibition question the concepts of originality and authenticity through Walter Benjamin's 'aura' thesis, which argues that even the most perfect reproduction of a work of art is missing from its existence in time and space.

Konyalı graduated from Koç University Media and Visual Arts Department with the highest honors and works in the fields of installation, photography, video, illustration and graphic design. Identity, the environment-memory relationship, gender roles and the originality of the artwork are among the subjects he deals with in his works. Şevval Konyalı won the 39th Akbank Contemporary Artists Award with his installation work “Re” in 2021. His works, which are in important collections, were exhibited at Contemporary Istanbul, Elgiz Museum, Arkas Art Center and were selected to be exhibited at BASE and Young Art competition platforms.
