About

Handan Akarsu studied at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting between 2006-2010, first in the workshops of Mürteza Fidan and then Devabil Kara. At the same time, she graduated from the Department of Interior Architecture in 2013, which she started with a double major programme at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2008. After graduating from the Master's programme in the Department of Art and Design at Akdeniz University between 2015-2018, he completed his Proficiency in Art - Doctorate in 2025 at Hacettepe University Institute of Fine Arts Painting Department in Prof. Hüsnü Dokak's workshop.

In his works, the artist constructs ‘Habitat Landscapes’ with experiences from his own life. He invites us to think about the subject and question the meaning in the connection we establish with nature. He tends towards the re-establishment of meaning in the landscape and while doing so, he researches equal order among species. It cares about raising awareness of habitat loss and the formation of social sensitivity.

In December 2012, she received an award in the Painting Branch of the 71st State Painting and Sculpture Museum competition. There are two solo exhibitions titled ‘Artıeksisıfır’ at Ziraat Bank Beyoğlu Tünel Art Gallery and ‘Şeffaf Manzara’ at Hacettepe University Turan Erol Art Gallery.

 

Akarsu's works are exhibited in Turkey's leading art venues such as Ankara State Museum of Painting and Sculpture, Izmir State Museum of Painting and Sculpture and Pera Museum, and are included in many important collections. His works have been exhibited in many national and international fairs and exhibitions.
