Can İncekara

Can İncekara (b. 1983, İzmir) graduated from Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Drawing. He completed his master's degree in drawing at the same faculty. Can İncekara takes the images engraved in memory by everyday objects on a journey from the personal memory where they reside to the sense of social memory. He not only presents the feeling of longing that nostalgia arouses in the individual in a melancholic and sad framework, but also ironically reflects to the viewer the absurdity of being stuck in the past and not being able to catch it. With the watercolor technique she uses, she renders the images in detail, referring to the fluidity of memory. Patterns and objects that appeal to personal experiences awaken the collective, they are now part of a common memory. The artist lives and works in İzmir.
