Bilal Hakan Karakaya
About
Born in 1979 in Ankara, Karakaya studied at Gazi University Faculty of Education of Art Education Department between 1999 -2004. In 2006, he began working with artist Hanefi Yeter. Bilal Hakan Karakaya is renowned for his unique technique of using different materials, pushing the boundaries of traditional sculpture production. His material variety include main sources of sculpture such as aluminum, bronze, iron casting, stone, wood and materials such as resin, industrial and natural waste. His sculptures are inspired by the reality of life and establish relationships with the past and the present.
In 2014, he set up his first solo exhibition ‘Hybrid Delusions’ at Anna Laudel Gallery (Formerly Art350 Gallery). The artist participates in various group exhibitions, international symposiums and continues working in his studio in Istanbul.
